The LAS Equinox Sky Camp is the largest star party in the UK.
where hundreds of amateur astronomers meet at Kelling Heath, Norfolk, for a weekend of observing and events.
The main event day is Saturday, with trade stands, second-hand 'astroboot' stalls, talks, a raffle and a telescope tour.
Two fields are devoted exclusively to astronomers during this weekend but a strict 'no lights' policy is enforced on these two fields over the whole week (from the previous Monday).
There is no charge for day visitors, but anyone wishing to stay for the evening is warned that car movements cannot take place on the observing field after dark, so they must park some distance away.
Kelling Heath offer a special reduced rate for Sky Camp pitches. Tell them you are attending Sky Camp for the reduced rate and a pitch on one of the fields dedicated to astronomy.
Kelling Heath and private individuals also have lodges and mobile homes for hire. These are located a little way from the observing field and are suitable for family groups. There are also local companies that can arrange to put a hire caravan on a pre-booked pitch.
For those who wish to extend their observing beyond the main weekend, Kelling Heath offer pitches on the observing fields over an extended period as listed above. Again do remember to tell them you are attending Sky Camp. Please be aware, the strict no-lights rule is enforced for the whole week.
The 2021 LAS Equinox Sky Camp is still planned for 4th to 11th October, with the main event on Saturday 9th October.
